What is DoorStep Urgent Care?
DoorStep provides pediatric-focused urgent care through a mobile medical exam room that comes to your home. Your child is evaluated inside the DoorStep vehicle by our care team, with pediatric providers involved in the care process.
How do I make an appointment?
Call DoorStep at (540) 472-4050. Our team will ask a few questions about your child’s symptoms and help schedule the most appropriate available appointment time.
Where is my child examined?
Your child is examined inside DoorStep’s mobile medical exam room when the vehicle arrives at your home. The visit does not take place inside your house.
What ages do you treat?
DoorStep provides pediatric urgent care for children from 4 months to 18 years of age. As a bonus, DoorStep will treat parents experiencing the same or similar symptoms as their child. Please call if you have questions about whether your child is appropriate for a DoorStep visit.
What conditions can DoorStep treat?
DoorStep is designed for many common pediatric urgent-care needs. When you call, our team will screen your child’s symptoms and let you know whether DoorStep is appropriate or whether a different level of care is recommended. A full list of illnesses DoorStep treats can be found at Conditions.
Do you accept insurance?
DoorStep accepts most major insurance plans. Coverage and patient responsibility vary by plan, so families should confirm specific benefits when scheduling.
Is there an additional cost for the convenience of DoorStep?
No. There is no additional convenience fee. Your copay is the same as your standard urgent care copay.
When will I receive the care plan or results?
After the mobile exam, the pediatric care team reviews the findings remotely and follows up with a personalized care plan, typically shortly after the visit. Timing can vary but usually occurs roughly an hour after the visit.
What if my child is having a medical emergency?
DoorStep is not a substitute for emergency care. For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
